Begin is an intergenerational performance work conceived by Rebekah Stuart, bringing together children and adults through movement, painting, play and musical theatre. Exploring confidence, self-expression and the transformative power of creativity, the work unfolded through a series of playful and evocative vignettes that encouraged participants to step beyond self-consciousness and into imaginative possibility.

Drawing on collaborative art-making, improvisation and familiar musical theatre songs as metaphors for courage, resilience and personal growth, Begin celebrated the capacity of creative practice to foster connection, belonging and joy.

Through moments of humour, tenderness and collective discovery, the work invited participants and audiences alike to reflect on the ways confidence is nurtured through play, community and the courage to be seen.
